Nana, Papa, Aunt Kimmie, Uncle Bud (Jamie) and Aunt Heidi came to watch Ashley and the Elite play. Dylan had fun with friends, climbing trees and getting dirty. Megan played with her toys, and loved getting in line for the snack bar and snow cones. It was so nice having everyone there to cheer and support Ashley. The tournament started early with a big loss to the Houston Power and the Elite dropping down automatically into the losers bracket. It is double elimination so the girls had a lot of work to do in order to get the birth to Nationals. They played well the remainder of the day and made it to Sunday. They were playing in the 3rd place game and once again were facing the Houston Power. We were up 3 to 0 the entire game. It came down to the last inning and the Power was Home team. They scored two runs quickly, we had one out and the bases were loaded. The ball was thrown, the ball was hit - but it was hit back to our pitcher who threw it to our catcher and got the 2nd out. The catcher then threw it to 1st base to get the 3rd out and we won the game 3 to 2 and also clinched our birth to Nationals. WOW - what a game! We played in the Championship Game, but lost. However, even with that loss we qualified for Nationals and will be heading to AL on the 26th. YEA!!
