Polar Bear Plunge

Our dear family friend, Scott Sullivan passed away on January 1, 2009. His wife Mary Jo, along with a group of Scotts friends set up the Scott Sullivan Scholarship Fund to help youth athletes who can not afford to play a sport, purchase sports equipment, etc. Scott would do anything to help youth who wanted to play sports and couldn't. We thought this fund would be a fitting tribute to him and a way to carry on what he did for others. Our first fundraiser (and what will now be an annual event) was the Polar Bear Plunge. The plunge was held in our subdivision pool with the Sullivan's house in the background. The event was unbelievable and so much more than the committee even thought it would be. The event was held on January 1st, 2010 at 11:00 am. Mary Jo, the three Sullivan children (Megan, Michael and Morgan), Scott's parents, his sister & brother-in-law and their children, the mayor of Frisco, Ike the Polar Bear from the TX Tornado Hockey Team, 200 people and 80+ "jumpers" were all in attendance! WOW!! At the mayors countdown, we jumped in shifts into the 30 degree water. I can't begin to tell you how cold it was. Oh my goodness...it was the BEST experience ever!! It was a way to celebrate the life of our dear friend. We miss and love you every day Mr. Scott!! You will forever be a part of our family.
